Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of healing and uses the bodies internal energy to heal the body.

The classical Chinese belief is that channels of energy run in regular patterns throughout the body. The body’s natural energy is called Qi (pronounced chi). These channels are called meridians and they are responsible for nourishing the tissues with vital Qi. An imbalance of the Qi in these channels can cause disease. The meridians can be influenced by
needling the acupuncture points pertaining to the imbalanced channel.

Once a channel is stimulated or balanced the normal flow through the meridian can be reestablished. Acupuncture treatments can therefore help the body’s internal systems to correct imbalances in their digestion, absorption, production, and in the circulation of their energy through the meridians.  Therefore, acupuncture can enhance the body and support physical and emotional health.

Is Acupuncture Safe?
Acupuncture is very safe.  The needles used are sterile and disposable one time use only.  Acupuncture has virtually no side effects.  Some people experience light headedness or dizziness due to fear or anticipation of
needling.  This can best be avoided by eating a small snack before coming to your appointments. Most often people report a feeling of relaxation or an energized feeling during or following each treatment.
